Bloomberg News has hired Rachel Butt to cover distressed debt and bankruptcy.
She will be based in New York.
Butt has been an associate editor at Debtwire, an Acuris company.
Butt joined Debtwire’s middle market team in November 2016, with a focus on distressed energy credits. She went on to cover complex workouts across other sectors when she joined Debtwire’s North America team in early 2018. She was promoted to senior reporter the following year.
Prior to Debtwire, Butt covered finance and private equity for Business Insider. She’s also interned for Bloomberg News in New York and Hong Kong and at the South China Morning Post in Hong Kong.
She is a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill, specializing in business journalism. She also earned a master’s degree in business and economic reporting at New York University.
