Bloomberg Gadfly hires Washington Post retail reporter Halzack

Sarah Halzack

Tim O’Brien, executive editor of Bloomberg Gadfly and Bloomberg View, and Beth Williams, Bloomberg Gadfly editor, sent out the following staff announcement on Thursday morning:

Beth Williams and I are pleased to let you know that Sarah Halzack, currently a retail reporter for the Washington Post, will be joining Gadfly as a retail columnist with our U.S. team. Sarah fills a vacancy created by Shelly Banjo‘s move to Hong Kong to join Gadfly’s APAC team as an industrials columnist.

Sarah, a graduate of George Washington University, has been with the Post for eleven years. She’s a frequent radio and TV commentator locally and nationally, and she also has lots of experience with the Post’s digital and data visualization efforts. To top off all of that, Sarah is an accomplished professional dancer. Mark Gongloff is the smarty who identified and then reached out to Sarah for us.

Sarah starts on July 10 and she will be based in Washington, DC. But she will be a frequent visitor to New York and have the rest of North and South America as part of her mandate. Sarah’s email is included here, so please welcome her aboard.
