The Web site for Bloomberg, which had been in a beta phase since earlier this year, launched a redesign on Monday.
The biggest change is the home page.
Bloomberg tested several different versions of the home page. For example, one version showed the first few sentences in all of the stories as opposed to headlines only, which was also tested. It also tested a version where the just the first headline received the “featured” treatment with a photo and summary.
The launch is the design that users liked best — a layout featuring top headlines with a few sentences from the stories, a new “highlights” section showing the hottest topics in business news, and a steady stream of headlines below that.
Unlike other business news sites such as The Wall Street Journal and the Financial Times, the content on Bloomberg.com remains free of charge.
In addition, Bloomberg.com is now the only major news source to feature three live TV feeds online.
