Bloomberg Businessweek to publish Czech edition

Bloomberg LP announced plans Wednesday to publish Bloomberg Businessweek Česko, a Czech-language edition of the magazine starting in late November.

Under terms of the publishing agreement, Smart Connections will also produce a Czech-language edition of Bloomberg Pursuits, Bloomberg’s award-winning global luxury lifestyle magazine.

“Our partnership with Smart Connections further demonstrates Bloomberg’s global reach and continued expansion,’ said Susan Vobejda, global general manager of the Bloomberg Content Service, in a statement. ‘This is a tremendous opportunity for advertisers to reach influential business and financial professionals in two central European economies: the Czech Republic and Slovakia.’

Bloomberg Businessweek Česko will be published every two weeks and will feature global content from Bloomberg’s 2,400 journalists worldwide, including its bureau in Prague. Smart Connections will be responsible for integrating locally-focused business and financial content.

Kateřina Urbanová, the Czech publisher’s co-owner and editor-in-chief of its flagship magazine Svět Průmyslu, will also serve as the editor-in-chief of Bloomberg Businessweek’s Czech-language edition.

“I am honored that, together with my team of experienced reporters, I can bring this prestigious, award-winning magazine to the Czech Republic and Slovakia,” said Urbanová in a statement. “My goal is that Bloomberg Businessweek Česko becomes a highly credible and sought-after source of business information in both countries.”

Bloomberg Businessweek has a global circulation over 980,000 each week and is available in more than 150 countries. In addition to the Czech Republic and Slovakia, Bloomberg Businessweek currently has license agreements for local language editions in Poland, China, Hong Kong, the Middle East, Indonesia and Turkey.
