Bloomberg Businessweek announced Friday that Brad Wieners will be joining the magazine as executive editor.
Wieners will report to editor Josh Tyrangiel and joins deputy editor Eric Pooley, executive editor Ellen Pollock, and managing editor Kristin Powers on the magazine’s senior management team.
Wieners joins Bloomberg Businessweek following five years at Men’s Journal, where he served as executive editor from 2005 to 2007 and as editor until 2010. Prior to that, he was executive editor at National Geographic Adventure.
Wieners has also held editor positions at CIO Insight, Outside, and Wired, where he covered the venture capital community during the dotcom boom. He is the co-author of “Reality Check: Here’s the Real Future,” a book based on the popular futurism section in Wired magazine, and “Burning Man,” a book of photographs and essays documenting the Black Rock Arts Festival.
“Brad is a proven magazine maker with nearly two decades of experience in the industry. His editorial knowledge and journalistic insights make him a great addition to the magazine,” said Tyrangiel in a statement. “I’m thrilled to have him join our management team.”
