Happy New Year, everybody. I’m pleased to start off 2016 by announcing a few new members of the Bloomberg Businessweek staff. They are supertalented, very enthusiastic, and already known to some of you from past lives.
Pat Regnier starts as editor at Bloomberg Businessweek today, Jan. 4, overseeing the Markets & Finance section of the magazine. Pat comes from Money, where he was an assistant managing editor. Previously he was a writer at Money and a senior writer for the European edition of Time.
Bret Begun will join Bloomberg Businessweek on Jan. 11 as the Etc. section editor. Bret was previously an articles editor at Details magazine and a senior editor at Newsweek.
Max Chafkin is joining us on Jan. 19 as a writer covering the tech industry. Since 2012, Max has been a contributing writer to Fast Company and a regular contributor to Vanity Fair. He’s written a number of cover stories for them, including Fast Company’s story on Uber and Vanity Fair’s piece on Mark Zuckerberg, both in October. He’s written for the New York Times Magazine, the Atlantic, and others. Previously, Max was a senior writer for Inc.
In other developments, the amazing Howard Chua-Eoan is now the editor in charge of the front-of-the-book news sections of the magazine; the equally amazing Eric Gelman, until today Markets & Finance editor, will be Howard’s deputy. Howard will continue to edit the Opening Remarks section.
Also, for those who haven’t heard, editor Emily Biuso will be leaving the magazine’s features staff next month and heading to San Francisco to join Brad Stone’s global technology team. I know we’ll continue to work with her, and she’s invited to Tuesday night dinner whenever she visits New York—so long as she brings chocolate. I expect to name Emily’s replacement in the near future.
