Blobaum named editor of Business Record’s Fearless initiative

Emily Blobaum

Emily Blobaum has been named editor of Fearless, a project of the Business Record in Des Moines.

Fearless focuses on women’s and gender issues.

Blobaum started working a few days a week at the Business Record a year ago to help out with a handful of special projects.

She is from Des Moines and graduated from Roosevelt High School. She graduated with a degree in journalism and mass communication from Iowa State in 2018, where she worked in several different positions at the award-winning student newspaper, the Iowa State Daily.

She had worked as a photo intern at the Guthrie County Times and Lincoln Journal Star and most recently was an assistant producer for Iowa PBS’ Emmy-nominated documentary, “Carrie Chapman Catt: Warrior for Women.”

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
