Black Enterprise undergoes overhaul

Black Enterprise magazine has rolled out a redesign that includes a new logo — the first change since its inception — with its January 2009 issue.

The changes include a new wealth section, repackaged personal finance and consumer affairs sections and an updated tech section. The PowerPlay section has been renamed Workplace.

“Because of the inhospitable nature of our economy, Black Enterprise is needed now more than ever,” said editor in chief Derek Dingle in a statement. “Despite the slumping economy, the magazine’s average paid circulation is the largest it’s ever been—525,000 with a total readership of 4.1 million. We continue to build upon our grand tradition of giving readers relevant, useful information. In these times when commerce operates at the speed of light, our audience must have timely and accurate information so they can make the best possible decisions.â€?

President and CEO Earl “Butch” Graves Jr. is also writing a new monthly column called Executive Memo.
