Biz reporter leaving Dallas Morning News

Sheryl Jean, a reporter on the Dallas Morning News business desk, is leaving the paper at the end of the year.

On LinkedIn, Jean writes:

My last day will be Jan. 1, 2016. I’m moving to northern California to start a new chapter in my life. I hope to continue writing/editing as a freelancer, but I’ll also explore other work opportunities. I’ll also travel more and hope to do some travel writing, which I have dabbled in over the years.

Jean has been with the Morning News since January 2008. She has covered the ups and downs of the economy in Dallas-Fort Worth, the nation’s fourth-largest metro area, and Texas. She also writes about Texas Instruments Inc., airlines and the aviation industry.

Jean also spent seven years as a business reporter for the St. Paul Pioneer Press, where she wrote about airlines, including Northwest Airlines’ bankruptcy reorganization and consumer air travel; financial services; and emerging dot.com companies.

Before that, Jean spent two years as a business reporter for The State in Columbia, S.C. She is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts.
