Biz reporter Hamway leaving Albuquerque Journal

Albuquerque Journal business reporter Stephen Hamway is leaving the paper for a job with a state government agency.

In March, he is joining the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs.

He has been with the Journal since May 2019, covering retail and tourism, as well as real estate in Albuquerque and the surrounding communities.

He had been at the Bend Bulletin in Oregon for four years. For two years, he was covering Deschutes County and Central Oregon’s public lands for The Bulletin. Before that, he spent two years as a business reporter for the Bulletin.

Hamway is a master’s graduate of the Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University. His undergrad degree is from the University of Puget Sound.
