Business reporter Paul Gores is among the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel staffers leaving the paper after accepting buyout offers, reports Rich Kirchen of the Milwaukee Business Journal.
Gores covers banking, residential real estate, insurance, retail and other business news.
Kirchen reports, “Thursday was the deadline for Journal Sentinel news employees to apply for the buyout that includes severance pay based on years with the company. The Journal Sentinel was seeking three to five volunteers and the number who applied exceeded that, sources said.
“The JS announced the program shortly after completion of the sale of the publication’s owner Gannett Co. Inc. to New Media Investment Group. Journal Sentinel staff was told the buyouts were prompted by Gannett’s poor financial results in the third quarter, a source said.”
