Biz journalist Narisetti joins McKinsey & Co.

Raju Narisetti

Former Knight-Bagehot program director and longtime business journalist Raju Narisetti has been hired as global publishing director elect at McKinsey & Co.

He will full take over the role this summer when Rik Kirkland retires. Kirkland is the former global editor at Fortune.

“I am really excited to work with smart and very talented colleagues on a range of new topics and digital platforms, bringing my relevant experience from three decades in journalism and publishing organizations,” wrote Narisetti on LinkedIn.

Narisetti left the Knight-Bagehot program at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism at the end of 2019. He had joined in 2018.

Narisetti previously was CEO of Gizmodo Media Group, which includes websites Gizmodo, Deadspin, Jezebel, Jalopnik, Kotaku and Lifehacker. He left there in April 2018.

Before that, he was senior vice president of strategy at Dow Jones & Co., the parent of The Wall Street Journal, MarketWatch.com and Barron’s.

He initially joined The Journal in April 1994 as a reporter in Pittsburgh, covering consumer goods and then technology. After working on the national desk, he rose quickly to be a deputy managing editor and editor of The Wall Street Journal Europe.

He left the Journal in 2006 to found Mint, India’s No. 2 business daily, and then was managing editor of The Washington Post before rejoining the Journal in February 2012 to run the WSJ Digital Network.
