Longtime business journalist Megan McCarthy has been hired as executive editor of growth for USA Today’s Reviewed.com.
She will focus on expanding the product review website into new and emerging categories. She’ll be hiring a team of writers and editors.
She has previously been executive editor of the MIT Technology Review. Before that, McCarthy was head of editorial strategy at Alley Interactive, an agency that builds digital platforms for publishers.
McCarthy was deputy managing editor of Fortune.com, and she had been deputy technology editor at Reuters, where she did everything from editing tech stories to managing the homepage of Reuters.com.
Previously she was a news editor at the New York Observer, the founding editor of Mediagazer, the first human editor at Techmeme, and a writer at Wired.com and Valleywag.
