Jeff Bailey, the editor in chief of YCharts.com for the past three years, is joining a Chicago-based investment banking firm.
Bailey will be a senior advisor at Verit Advisors and remain editor of YCharts.
Bailey is a former editor, columnist and reporter at The Wall Street Journal, where he spent 20 years from 1983 to 2003, and also worked as a staff financial reporter at the New York Times and Los Angeles Times.
He was also the editor of Crain’s Chicago Business, and has written for national business and general-interest magazines.
“This is a new, non-journalism role for me and I’m very excited,” said Bailey in a statement. “I believe employee ownership has the potential to help solve the nation’s retirement savings crisis, to make U.S. industry more productive and to create and retain jobs in our economy. The benefits of ESOPs are too little appreciated. I met [CEO] Mary Josephs while reporting an ESOP article while at The Wall Street Journal about 15 years ago and have admired her work since.”
