Biz journalist becomes executive editor in San Diego

George ChamberlinFinancial and business journalist George Chamberlin has accepted the position of executive editor of The Daily Transcript and San Diego Source. In this position, Chamberlin will report directly to the publisher, assisting in the development of editorial strategies for the newspaper and Web site, and representing the company at selected public meetings and events. Chamberlin assumes his new role immediately.

The Daily Transcript is a business newspaper in the San Diego area.

Chamberlin is widely regarded as the dean of San Diego’s financial journalists. He is a veteran reporter and editor, and has maintained a regular presence in the Transcript for several years, writing a daily market recapitulation, a weekly column, as well as many special pieces throughout the year, such as his recently published “San Diego outlook for `06: `Cool but no crash.'”

Chamberlin is also the business editor for KOGO Radio and hosts “Money in the Morning,” a personal finance and consumer program heard each Sunday. In addition, he is the Money Advisor for NBC 7/39, providing financial reports each weekday morning. Chamberlin is also a featured columnist for the North County Times. He is the publisher and editor of a national newsletter, “Investing for Rookies,” and has twice been honored as Media Advocate of the Year by the Small Business Administration.
