Xana Antunes, former executive editor of CNBC Digital and editor of Crain’s New York, has been hired by Quartz as editor of new initiatives, reports Joe Pompeo of Capital New York.
Pompeo writes, “‘She will be part of our New York editing lineup and work closely with Quartz’s reporters around the world on specific stories, adding to our top-tier editing team in anticipation of further growth in reporting staff,’ Quartz editor in chief Kevin Delaney announced in an internal memo Sunday night. ‘Xana will play a lead role in recruiting talented journalists as we prepare to significantly expand our staff over the next year, in video and other areas.’
“Antunes joins the Atlantic Media-owned digital finance publication’s 40-person newsroom as it celebrates revenue growth that Quartz claims to be up 160 percent year over year, with more than 85 blue chip advertisers since the site’s September 2013 launch and a record 10.9 million unique visitors, per internal metrics, during the month of October, according to a spokesperson.
“Most recently, Antunes spent two years as the executive editor and vice president of CNBC Digital, where she reportedly scaled traffic and video views before resigning in September. Prior to that, Antunes was the editor of Crain’s New York Business, which ousted her in 2012, and the executive editor of Fortune and its companion website at the time, CNNMoney.com.”
