The American Society of Business Publication Editors announced Thursday it will relocate its operations to The Poynter Institute, which will provide management services to the 51-year-old association.
As part of the agreement, Poynter will provide membership and customer service, event support, website assistance and management of ASBPE’s Azbee Awards of Excellence. Poynter and ASBPE will collaborate on the association’s annual conference programming, and ASBPE members will receive a discount on Poynter training.
ASBPE, which is now based in Wheaton, Ill., is a professional association for full-time and freelance editors, writers, art directors and designers in the business, trade and specialty press. The Poynter Institute is a non-profit, international school for journalists based in St. Petersburg, Fla.
“Our members mean everything to us,” said Jessica Zemler, ASBPE President and Digital Content Director for UBM Life Sciences, Veterinary. “This new partnership with Poynter represents a turning point not only for the ASBPE as a whole but for each one of our members.
ASBPE is the second association this year to turn to Poynter for management services, following the move to Poynter by the Association of Opinion Journalists.
