Candace Beeke, the editor of Business Review West Michigan, said goodbye to her readers on Sunday. She is leaving to become editor of the Houston Business Journal.
“It means leaving many, many wonderful people behind but we’ve already been amazed by the similarities between the mindset of the people we’ve met in Houston and those here in West Michigan.
“My mother wasn’t surprised. She reminded me that I lived in Houston once before, when I was about the age our youngest child is now — 14 months. She said I don’t sleep well in Houston. Apparently, I cry a lot and require constant rocking. My husband has been duly warned.
“But she also told me to expect a laid-back and welcoming attitude from Houstonians.”
