Birmingham real estate reporter headed to Memphis

Ryan Poe, who covers cover real estate, retail and manufacturing for the Birmingham Business Journal, is moving to the paper’s sister publication in Memphis.

Poe will become the Memphis Business Journal’s commercial real estate reporter on Nov. 4, he confirmed on Twitter Tuesday.

Poe has been in Birmingham for the past two years and three months. Previously, he was with the Commercial Dispatch in Columbus, Miss., where he covered ocal government, courts and crime, and designed and edited the Sunday editions.

Poe is a University of Memphis graduate, and he interned with the city’s daily, The Commercial Appeal, while in college.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
