Birmingham Business Journal editor leaves paper

Cindy Fisher Crawford, , the editor of the Birmingham Business Journal, has left the American City Business Journals paper.

On Facebook, Crawford wrote, “We kicked butt and took names, winning more awards in my tenure than any time in its 30-year history. I’m excited about what life has in store for me next!”

She declined comment when contacted by Talking Biz News.

Before joining the Alabama business weekly in 2007, Fisher spent five years at the Daytona Beach News Journal in Florida as a reporter and 20 months at the Waterbury Republican-American in Connecticut as a reporter.

Fisher, a University of Alabama graduate, also worked at the Birmingham Post-Herald from 1998 to 2001.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
