Jonathan O’Connell of Capital Business writes Monday that the Bloomberg Government venture, a new service that will cover the intersection of business and government, plans to hire up to 100 staffers by the end of the year.
O’Connell writes, “Sarah Feinberg, spokeswoman for Bloomberg global communications and business strategy, said the company expects to make 100 hires by the end of the year and continue adding people after the launch in 2011.
“‘We will be providing deep, reliable, quick, unbiased reporting on government and business, paired with comprehensive data and analysis,’ she said via e-mail. ‘In order to provide the most thorough coverage possible, we are hiring journalists interested in combining reporting with in-depth analysis and policy.’
“Bloomberg, which has more than 2,400 journalists in 146 bureaus internationally, has its Washington headquarters at 1399 New York Ave. NW — less than a block from the U.S. Treasury — but recently leased space at 1875 K St. NW, a building owned by Shorenstein Realty Services, to accommodate its growth. Cassidy Turley, the building’s leasing agent, declined to comment.”
