BGOV defeats Bloomberg Businessweek in flag football

Betsy Rothstein of Fishbowl DC reports Tuesday that staffers from BGOV, the new Bloomberg service that reports on the intersection of business and government, defeated a team of staffers from Bloomberg Businessweek magazine in flag football by a score of 28 to 21.

Rothstein writes, “A tipster tells us Kevin Sheekey, head of gov relations, comm and BGOV for Bloomberg LP, put together a crack team of players last Friday for a flag football game in Manhattan’s Central Park against Bloomberg Businessweek Editor-in-Chief Josh Tyrangiel, editors and reporters. (Note: For D.C. types, Sheekey used to work for the late New York Democratic Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynahan.)

“That crack team was more than it seemed. While editorial production at Bloomberg Businessweek is up (with a 20% increase in editorial pages, twice as many stories) apparently Tyrangiel’s team still needs to polish their football skills since Sheekey’s  team butchered Tyrangiel’s team 28-21.

“Two touchdown passes on the Bloomberg Businessweek side included Jon Kelly to Tyrangiel and the last touchdown was a trick play from staff reporter Ira Boudway to Tyrangiel. Sheekey, however, caught the touchdown that ended up being crucial to clinch the game.”
