Batten moves into editor role at The Charlotte Observer

Taylor Batten

Taylor Batten will now be the No. 2 editor at The Charlotte Observer, and he has worked at the publication for over two decades. He has most recently spent 11 years as the editor of the opinion pages.

Interestingly enough, Batten’s late father, James Batten, also worked at The Charlotte Observer. James Batten was a former executive editor of The Observer during the 1970s. Taylor Batten graduated from Duke University in 1991, and also has a masters from Harvard University, as well. He has won multiple awards throughout his career, including the Carmage Walls Prize for Commentary.
