Barron’s names Rose its executive editor; names MEs, other editors
Barron’s editor in chief Katherine Bell sent out the following announcement on Tuesday:
I’m happy to announce some new appointments and responsibilities in the Barron’s newsroom. Together these changes represent a big step forward in our ongoing transformation, and they’ll set us up to build quickly on the successes and experiments of the past couple of months, both online and in the magazine.
First, I’m delighted that Bob Rose will join the staff as Executive Editor, leading the effort to fully integrate and grow our print and digital editorial operations and overseeing our equities and investing teams. Bob is an accomplished and experienced editor with deep financial knowledge. Most recently he has been print editor for the WSJ, where in the past he has been a reporter, Atlanta bureau chief, Markets Desk editor and Greater New York editor. He also worked with several Barron’s staffers at SmartMoney. Bob’s first day will be Feb 14.
There are also some internal changes on the editorial management team:
Lauren Rublin will be Managing Editor, Roundtables and Special Projects. In this new role, Lauren will be responsible for expanding the scope of the Roundtable; managing live events, webinars, and other expert- and community-driven experiments; and editing special reports like the CEO rankings and Big Money Poll. I’m excited to have Lauren, who has long been a steward of Barron’s editorial mission, focusing on how to extend it onto new platforms.
Alex Eule has taken on the new position of Managing Editor, Disruption. Bringing the innovative thinking behind Barron’s Next into the core of what we do, Alex will manage our thematic tech coverage, help launch critical new initiatives like our first narrative daily newsletter, and continue to write forward-looking features and columns.
Jeff Cane, our News and Features editor, will now look after the disruption and markets teams, in addition to tracking our major themes across our platforms, ensuring that our coverage is both relevant and ambitious, and editing many of our big features and investigations.
Bob Sabat, a pillar of our copy desk for the last couple of years, has joined the markets team as Assistant Managing Editor. He’ll continue to edit features and columns and also help shape our daily markets coverage.
Congratulations to all of the above!
