Barlett & Steele Awards accepting entries

Applications are now being accepted for the Barlett & Steele Awards In Investigative Business Journalism. The annual contest, administered by the Donald W. Reynolds National Center for Business Journalism, honors the best investigative business journalism.

Named for two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning journalists Don Barlett and Jim Steele, recognition includes a gold award of $5,000, a silver prize of $2,000 and a bronze award of $1,000.

The competition is free to enter, and media outlets can submit up to two entries.

Work entered in Barlett & Steele must have appeared in the year ending June 30, 2015. View the other rules and entry instructions.

The application can be found here. Don’t wait to apply–the deadline is Aug. 1 at 8 p.m.

The Reynolds Center is based at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. Support for the Reynolds Center comes from the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
