Dan Barkin has started writing a column every other month for Business North Carolina.
Barkin retired in May as managing editor of The News & Observer in Raleigh. He joined the N&O as business editor in 1996 after working as an assistant business editor at the Baltimore Sun. He has a master’s in journalism from the University of Maryland.
“We’re excited that Dan is sharing his viewpoint on key statewide business issues,” said Business North Carolina editor David Mildenberg. “He played a key role over the last two decades in making the N&O a distinctive regional newspaper. He has great insight and institutional knowledge about the rapid development of both North Carolina and the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill market.”
Barkin was also publisher of the Carroll County Times in Maryland for three years and deputy managing editor of The Virginian Pilot.
