Bankrate hires WSJ reporter Witkowski

Rachel Witkowski

Bankrate.com chief content officer Lou Ferrara sent out the following announcement on Friday:

Hi everyone,

I’m pleased to announce that Rachel Witkowski, a financial regulation reporter at The Wall Street Journal in Washington, will be joining as a senior mortgage and housing reporter and analyst, effective Sept. 11.

We’re thrilled to have Rachel joining the team, especially as housing and mortgages remain among the top financial topics for consumers. A mortgage is often the biggest financial decision in a person’s life, and Rachel will take it all on as the housing industry continues to evolve in the post-financial crisis era. Rachel’s experience will serve consumers well as she digs into mortgages, real estate, home equity and home loans.

Rachel (@RachelWitkowski) has reported on bank regulation and financial technology at WSJ since February 2016. Prior to that, she worked at American Banker for more than five years covering community banks and the federal regulatory agencies, including the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

Rachel graduated from the University of North Florida with a double major in print and broadcast journalism. She will remain based in Washington, DC.

I spoke to Rachel earlier today: “I’ve written about banks and financial regulation for more than a decade at various business publications – covering the financial collapse in Florida and the efforts of Washington’s policymakers to regulate the nation’s largest banks. I am delighted to use that experience to provide consumers with the best answers to their financial needs at Bankrate.”
