Personal finance site Bankrate.com has hired two new mortgage reporters — senior reporter Jeff Ostrowski and reporter Javier SImon.
Ostrowski has been a business reporter at the Palm Beach Post since 1999. He covered real estate, the economy and public companies, including Fortune 500 firms NextEra Energy, Carrier Global and Office Depot. He reported and wrote the Post’s annual executive compensation survey and annual NIH funding survey.
His stories about a state tax loophole that let large landlords save millions led Florida lawmakers to unanimously end the tax break. Ostrowski is also a board member of the National Association of Real Estate Editors.
Ostrowski previously worked at the South Florida Business Journal and the Fort Pierce (Florida) Tribune.
Simon was a banking, investing and retirement expert for SmartAsset. The personal finance writer’s work has been featured in Investopedia, PLANADVISER and iGrad.
He is a member of the Society for Advancing Business Editing and Writing. He has a degree in journalism from SUNY Plattsburgh
