Devin Banerjee, who left Bloomberg News this week, has been hired by LinkedIn to oversee its finance coverage.

Tanya Dua of Business Insider writes, “The professional social network has hired the Bloomberg deals editor Devin Banerjee to lead its finance coverage, LinkedIn’s editor-in-chief, Dan Roth, told Business Insider. Banerjee helped oversee coverage of mergers and acquisitions in North America at Bloomberg, and he tweeted about his departure from Bloomberg on Thursday.

“LinkedIn is also continuing to expand its newsroom globally, Roth said, hiring or planning to hire editors and writers in France, Germany, Australia, Brazil, and the UK in recent months. LinkedIn’s editorial function currently has nearly 40 members around the globe.”

Banerjee was also a deals and investing reporter at Bloomberg, responsible for covering the largest private equity managers and the broader alternative-asset management sector.

He’s a Stanford University grad and was the Daniel Pearl Memorial intern at The Wall Street Journal before joining Bloomberg.
