I’m pleased to announce that Liana Baker has taken on a new role in the U.S. deals team covering shareholder activism and corporate governance . She will now be based in New York and continue to deputize for me. As many of you know, Liana previously covered mergers and acquisitions in the technology, media and telecommunications sectors out of San Francisco, breaking news on some of the biggest deals in her beat, including Tesla/SolarCity, Wanda/Legendary Entertainment, Sinclair Broadcast/Tribune Media, Discovery/Scripps, SiriusXM/Pandora, Meredith/Time and CineWorld/Regal Entertainment, as well as on the IPO preparations of unicorns such as Lyft and Dropbox. Before joining the Reuters deals team in 2014, Liana was a corporate reporter on the media and cable companies beats. She also reported from the Pyeongchang Winter Games in February, her second Olympics reporting stint for Reuters after Rio de Janeiro. She joined Reuters in 2010 after graduating from Northwestern University with an undergraduate degree in journalism. A Canadian national, Liana is an avid skier and world traveler; she started in New York today fresh off a two-week tour of Asia.
