Axios has tapped Jamie Stockwell as executive editor for local news overseeing Axios’ plan to expand its coverage to 25 local cities by the summer, and 50 by the end of 2023.
Stockwell joins from The New York Times, where she was deputy national editor and also oversaw Race/Related, as the acting editor.
She was with the San Antonio Express-News for more than 11 years, joining the publication in 2007 as assistant city editor. Later on, she held the posts of deputy metro editor, metro editor and then managing editor.
She has also worked at The Washington Post and has interned at The Houston Chronicle and the Austin American-Statesman.
Stockwell has a bachelor’s degree in journalism and English from The University of Texas.
