Attorney for Fox Business to testify before Congress

TALKING BIZ NEWS EXCLUSIVE

Fox Business Network‘s outside legal counsel Steve Mintz has been invited to testify at the Financial Services Committee hearing this Thursday about the changes to the Freedom of Information Act requirements of the Securities and Exchange Commission due to the financial services reform bill that became law this summer.

Mintz will be allowed to make a five-minute opening statement and then will get questions from the committee as well.

Fox Business is upset that the Securities and Exchange Commission has denied its request for documents, based on Section 929I of Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, which allows the SEC to refuse to disclose records or other information in response to certain Freedom of Information Act requests.

A bill has been introduced to repeal that portion of the legislation.

The hearing will begin at 10 a.m. in Room 2128 of the Rayburn House Office Building.
