Thomas Oliver, who took over writing the Atlanta Journal-Constitution business section column last year when longtime columnist Maria Saporta took a buyout offer and left the paper, is now leaving himself.

Oliver is on a list of those who will take the voluntary separation package distributed Monday by Atlanta Constitution editor Julia Wallace and obtained by Talking Biz News.

Oliver took over for Saporta last August. He has been a former business editor at the Atlanta paper, and he also wrote a book about Coca-Cola called “The Real Coke, The Real Story.” He is an Atlanta native, and in 1996 he oversaw the paper’s coverage of the Summer Olympics.

Saporta now writes her column for The Atlanta Business Chronicle. Oliver’s recent columns can be found here.

Another person on the list is Andy Miller, who has covered the business of health care at the paper for more than a decade.
