Asman on his career in business journalism

Fox Business Network anchor David Asman was interviewed by the National Journal about his likes and dislikes of his career.

Here is an excerpt:

What’s your most embarrassing on-the-job moment? (Or as embarrassing as you’d like to reveal)

Embarrassing moments on air happen EVERY DAY. But the great thing about Roger Ailes is he hates anchors trying to cover up mistakes. You admit it and move on. Everyone knows that everyone makes mistakes. It’s annoying when you see anchors who pretend that everything is always perfect. We don’t do that. Having said all that, I think the worst things I do consistently is to mispronounce names.

And finally, we’re ending this feature with a question posed by the last interviewee. This is from CBS’ Chip Reid: When’s the last time you said to yourself: “I hate this job.”

I never said I hate this job, but when we do an extra hour show at the end of a 14 hour day, where I’ve already done four, one-hour shows, I wonder how many more times I can do that.
