Carlo Piovano, who joined the Associated Press business desk in London as an editor at the height of the global financial crisis, has been promoted to AP’s Europe business editor.
An AP story states, “Piovano, 36, will oversee breaking news and enterprise business coverage throughout Europe, coordinating between business staffers in London, Frankfurt and Moscow and general news reporters all over the continent. He has been AP’s acting Europe Business Editor for the last year.
“‘Carlo has been a steady leader for us, sharpening our coverage to help us focus on Europe’s top business and economic stories,’ said Lisa Gibbs, AP’s Business Editor.
“Before joining AP in 2008, Piovano was a correspondent for Dow Jones in Stockholm and for AFX and Thomson Reuters in London. He previously worked as an options trader in Chicago, London and Frankfurt. He has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a master’s from University College London.”
