Associated Press business editor Lisa Gibbs sent out the following announcement to the staff:
Assistant business editor Philana Patterson has accepted a position at USA Today, as deputy Money editor in New York City.
Philana accomplished a long list of important initiatives during her eight years-plus with Business News. The most notable was the launch of earnings automation, which transformed the way we run our department and garnered international attention for the AP.
Previously she launched AP Small Business, and of course played a vital role in the department running the breaking news desk. Her project management skills, creativity and leadership will certainly be missed.
Her last day with us will be Nov. 2. We will work together with her to make her departure as smooth as possible.
