Andy Jordan has left the WSJ building

Wall Street Journal reporter Andy Jordan sent out the following goodbye message to his colleagues on Friday afternoon:

After six years of adventure, today is my last day at The Wall Street Journal. It’s been a tremendous ride, and I’m grateful to the people (you know who you are) who blessed me with the opportunity to take it. I have had the extraordinary privilege of starting a first-of-its-kind technology video series, of reporting on-the-ground at the Turkey/Armenian border, of reporting throughout the financial crisis from Iceland to all of the PIIGS nations. I reported from two national campaign trails and political conventions.

I drove a hybrid vehicle from New York to Santa Barbara in 8 days, driving, shooting, and editing video (sometimes all at the same time). I’ve done tours of duty in Davos, and gotten taser’d at CES (real men scream). I’ve had the great honor of reporting with some of the best in the business and have worked directly alongside many of you in Beijing, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Italy, London, Germany, Ireland, Turkey, Singapore, New York, and San Francisco, and still many, many more of you from afar. I’ve made friends for life. What a gift to be able to work with smart people from all over the world.

Most of us got into this nutty business of journalism, at least in part, to explore all facets of life. “Specialization is for insects,” Robert Heinlein said. I’ve seen such a broad spectrum of the world, just in the past six years, and that’s been an awesome gift. I’m extremely excited about the next adventure.
