I would like to announce that Washington Bureau Chief Kevin Krolicki has been appointed interim regional editor of the Americas, effective immediately.
Krolicki, who has previously served with distinction as U.S. West Coast bureau chief, Detroit bureau chief, and Japan bureau chief, will take over responsibility for all editorial operations in the Americas and will report directly to me. Kevin joined Reuters in 1996 as a producer for what was then Reuters Financial Television, and became Asia editor for that service. He was named Reuters Editor of Year in 2013 for his exceptional work in Japan on everything from snapping to Special Reports. In all his roles, he has proved himself a strong journalist and a thoughtful and creative leader.
Our current editor for the Americas, Dayan Candappa, is leaving the organization to pursue opportunities outside Thomson Reuters, effective immediately. I would like to thank Dayan for his many contributions since joining Reuters as a stringer in 2000. We wish him well.
Kevin will continue overseeing the Washington Bureau as he takes on his additional responsibilities. I hope you will join me in congratulating him on his appointment as interim regional editor and wishing him every success in his new role.
