American Banker names DC bureau chief, tech editor

American Banker editor Rob Blackwell sent out the following announcement to the staff:

I’m pleased to announce two new promotions at American Banker.

As some of you may have already heard, Joe Adler has become the new Washington Bureau Chief. Joe has been doing terrific work as the BankThink editor for the past three years, while also serving as my deputy. I’m pleased that he’ll be taking the Bureau Chief role full-time. Joe was on the front-lines as a reporter during the financial crisis, covering the failures of Washington Mutual and Wachovia, and has at one time or another covered or edited a story on about just about every banking policy topic there is. He comes to the new role with more experience than any Bureau Chief since Barb Rehm.

I’m also pleased to announce that Suleman Din, the managing editor of SourceMedia’s Investment Advisor Group, will be joining American Banker as its tech editor. Suleman will actually be pulling double duty, serving as an editor for tech coverage for both American Banker and IAG. Suleman has spent the bulk of his time on Reinvent Wealth, a highly successful Financial Planning vertical that focuses on digital wealth management. In his new role, Suleman will be guiding coverage between the two publications. He will coordinate with Penny Crosman, who will continue in her key role as editor-at-large for American Banker and report to me.

Our policy and tech teams are vitally important to American Banker, and I’m confident both are in great hands. Please join me in congratulating both Joe and Suleman on their new roles.

Best,

Rob
