American Banker hires Kiplinger’s Pedersen

Brendan Pedersen

Branden Pedersen, a reporter at Kiplinger Personal Finance, has been hired by American Banker.

He has been covering tech, money and health care at Kiplinger. At American Banker, he will cover the FDIC, OCC and financial tech regulation.

He starts next month.

Pedersen spent a summer working as a reporter at BusinessDen.com, which covers business news in Colorado, as a Dow Jones News fund intern. He graduated from DePaul University in Chicago with a degree in journalism and political science.

He also worked at Kiplinger one summer as part of the American Society of Magazine Editor’s summer immersion program.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
