Albuquerque Biz First reporter Perea leaving to cover education

Shelby Perea

Shelby Perea, the retail and real estate reporter for Albuquerque Business First, is leaving the paper to join the Albuquerque Journal.

At the Journal, she will cover K-12 education.

Perea joined Business First in January 2017, covering new construction projects in and around Albuquerque, retail and restaurant development, and the residential housing market. Before taking over the real estate beat, Perea was a digital producer at the business weekly, managing social media across several platforms, setting traffic goals and bringing pageviews to the paper’s website.

Before that, she was a digital producer for KRQE News 13.

Perea is a University of New Mexico graduate in psychology and communication and media studies. She has lived in Albuquerque her entire life.
