Albuquerque Business First on Thursday announced that Meagan Nichols has been named editor-in-chief.

Her first day is scheduled to be May 24.

Chris Keller of Business First writes, “Nichols was previously managing editor of sister paper the Memphis Business Journal, a position she held since November 2019. Prior to that role at the MBJ, she was an associate editor, lead reporter and reporter. She joined the paper in 2014.

“Both the MBJ and Business First are owned by American City Business Journals, the nation’s largest publisher of local business news and information.

“‘Since starting with American City Business Journals, I have gone from a reporter to an editor-in-chief — with several roles in between,’ Nichols said. ‘This company has allowed me to grow in a way that few do, and my managers have always encouraged me to take the next step. I look forward to now working with my team at ABF as we, together, take steps to catapult our coverage to new heights.’

“As editor-in-chief, Nichols will be responsible for the strategic direction of Business First’s digital and print news products, as well as continuing to grow the readership of both.”
