Albuquerque Biz First names new ME

Damon Scott has been named Albuquerque Business First’s managing editor, effective April 20.

A story on its website states, “As managing editor, Scott will oversee the day-to-day operations of the newsroom, which includes supervising the creation of our Afternoon Edition news email and weekly edition.

“‘Damon is a skilled and competitive newshound, a resource and support for his teammates, and a leader in our newsroom,’ said Editor-in-Chief Rachel Sams.’It’s been a delight to work with him and see him grow as a journalist over the past seven years, and I look forward to working with him in this new role to lead our newsroom to new heights.’

“Scott, who grew up in Albuquerque, has been ABF’s commercial real estate reporter since 2012. His reporting on plans for a huge garnet mine in southern New Mexico was recognized by the Society of Professional Journalists with a second-place award for business general reporting in the 2014 Top of the Rockies competition.”
