Damon Scott, the managing editor of Albuquerque Business First, has been hired as editor of the Taos News.
A story on its website states, “‘This is a dream job for me,’ Scott said. ‘Taos is one of the most beautiful places on earth and is a community that cares deeply about the issues of the day that matter.’
“An award-winning journalist, Scott was at Albuquerque Business First for more than seven years as an editor and reporter. He won a second-place award in the annual Society of Professional Journalists’ Top of the Rockies competition for his story: ‘This is garnet: $1 billion of it,’ about Santa Fe business mogul Dan Burrell of The Burrell Group.
“‘We are excited that a community-minded editor of Damon’s caliber is joining our team,’ said Taos News Publisher Chris Baker. ‘His experience as a journalist, editor and professional writer spans more than 11 years working throughout the state.'”
