Albany Times Union lays off biz editor

Chris Churchill, a business writer at the Albany Times Union in upstate New York, writes Wednesday about layoffs that include his boss, business editor Marlene Kennedy.

Churchill writes, “The layoffs were effective immediately, although the company said members of the Albany Newspaper Guild technically were placed on paid leave as the newspaper continues ongoing negotiations with the union.

“The Newspaper Guild on Tuesday filed a grievance with the company over a layoff that occurred a day earlier.”
