Ad Age reporter Bergen to cover Google for Re/code

Mark Bergen, who covers mobile carriers, devices and advertising out of New York City for Advertising Age, has been hired by Re/code to cover Google.

He starts April 13 and will be based in San Francisco.

“Google is the world’s most fascinating company,” said Bergen in an email with Talking Biz News. “It reaches into each of our lives and is stretching into untold industries, all while its chief business — and its reputation as an innovator — is under assault. And there is not a better place for ruthless coverage of Google than Re/code.”

Before joining Advertising Age, Bergen reported from Bangalore for various publications, including The New York Times, Reuters, The Wall Street Journal, Quartz, and The Caravan. He is from Ohio.

Additionally, he wrote reports and analyses on India and Sri Lanka for the Economist Intelligence Unit

Bergen is a graduate of the College of Wooster in sociology and has a master’s in public policy from the University of Chicago.
