We’re off to a great start!
Business Insider and INSIDER posted incredible traffic months this quarter. The video team is crushing it too.
Meanwhile, we’ve published some stories with serious impact. The heavies in tech are talking about Julie Bort’s Uber behind-the-scenes investigation. Fraternities at Yale are changing their policies because of Abby Jackson’s reporting on sexual misconduct.
It will take more hard work and creativity, but Q2 should be great, too.
One early, positive sign: We’ve just hired several extremely talented journalists.
Greg Sandoval is joining Business Insider as Senior Reporter on the tech beat. Previously, Greg was a dominant force in tech reporting at The Verge and CNET. We’ve been trying to hire him for years, and we’re thrilled to finally have him.
Julie Gerstein is joining INSIDER as Senior News Editor. She will oversee our coverage of popular culture and viral news. ( She comes from Buzzfeed, where she’s been since 2014. Julie knows viral; In 2017, her Buzzfeed stories had 140 million page views.) She previously worked for the Frisky and New York Magazine.
Daniella Greenbaum is joining Business Insider as a political columnist. She’ll be writing about the culture wars, domestic politics, and international affairs. She comes from Commentary Magazine, and before that the Wall Street Journal.
Exa Zim recently joined INSIDER as an associate producer. Before that, he was at Fast Company and Vox Media. In his short time with us, he already has two projects blowing up on YouTube and a Facebook mega-hit.
Rosie Percy joined our London-based distribution team. She comes from Time Out London. Before that, she worked at the Guardian.
We’ve also hired several former interns into full-time positions: Zoe Bernard joined BI as a tech reporter. Mark Matousek joined BI as a transportation reporter. Alex Ma will cover global news from London. Jensen Rubinstein and Harry Kersh joined our distribution teams.
INSIDER also hired star interns Kevin Priolo, Christian Carvajal, Fabiana Buontempo, Nick Fernandez, Jennifer Lee, Maggie Cai, Claire Banderas, Abby Narishkin, Meranda Yslas into full-time roles.
