WSJ journalist to become biz editor in Omaha

Bradley Davis, digital editor of markets and finance for The Wall Street Journal, has resigned to become business editor of he Omaha World-Herald.

He replaces Deb Shanahan, who is becoming features editor at the paper.

The move represents a homecoming for Davis, who is a graduate of the University of Nebraska, where he was managing editor of the student newspaper.

After graduation, he spent eight years for Verdant Partners, managing a family-owned real-estate investment and management firm , before returning to college to receive a master’s degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.

In 2009, he joined Barron’s. He also was a reporter for The Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones, covering foreign exchange, Treasurys and global economics. He also logged more than 50,000 air miles covering the Federal Reserve.

For the past two years, Davis has overseen the Money & Investing section’s online presence and has also contributed a column to Barron’s.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
