WSJ hires new defense reporter

Wall Street Journal Washington bureau chief John Bussey made the following announcement to the staff on Friday afternoon:

“I’m pleased to announce that Nathan Hodge will join the Washington bureau to cover the defense industry.

“Nathan has worked for Jane’s Defense Weekly and other publications that specialize in the companies and congressmen that shape this industry. He is currently writing for Wired’s national security blog while finishing his second book on national security issues. Nathan has also written for the Financial Times, Slate and the Economist Intelligence Unit, has reported on the U.S. military from Iraq and Afghanistan, and has lived and reported in Ukraine. He has a Masters degree from Yale University in Russian and East European Studies and graduated from Rutgers University in 1992 with a B.A. in English and Political Science.

“Nathan starts June 1. Please join me in welcoming him to the Journal.”
