Yahoo Finance names Sozzi its executive editor

Brian Sozzi

Brian Sozzi has been promoted to executive editor at Yahoo Finance.

“In short, I would say it’s an honor to be chosen for this position,” he wrote on LinkedIn. “The road to get here the past 20 years has been winding, grueling, amazing, fun and non-stop.”

He has been an editor at large and anchor for Yahoo Finance Live. He also hosts executive interviews for Yahoo Finance’s “All Markets Summit” conference and “Yahoo Finance Presents” digital series.

Sozzi was previously the executive editor of TheStreet.com. He led editorial direction for multimedia publications TheStreet, The Deal, several subscription news and data services, video and the company’s conference business. He was a member of TheStreet’s executive management team and reported directly to the founder, CEO and chairman.

Sozzi began his career on Wall Street as a sell-side stock analyst covering retailers, banks and numerous other sectors.

Former Yahoo Finance editor in chief Andy Serwer left last month to join Barron’s as editor at large.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
